The Thracian upland bi level house (Nikokirospito)

The Thracian upland bi level house is strongly influenced by the advanced residence typology of the Turkish occupation period. It is reflected on the semi private open air and closed spaces with two parallel zones which have as their main characteristic the frontal chagiati (roofed level?s extension). There is a big range of buildings: the mansion and the konaki (a kind of residence) with religious, customary or racial features, partly regarding morphological elements: for example, low fences - tall stone fences, open chagiatia - grille ones, house design for a compound, family-design for gender and separation correspondingly to Christian Orthodox and Muslim households.
