The subject of this speech is the study of the Pomaks of the Bulgarian section of Rodhopi. This study was the combined research result of the relative bibliography and the local investigation, with a total of 7 missions in the Pomak villages of Bulgarian Rodhopi. The traditions of those Pomaks are in danger of extinction, due to the modernization of their life and the attempt to be assimilated. This study contributes to the understanding of the developments in the post-communist Balkans, but also of the Pomaks of Greek Thrace, due to their similarities with the Pomaks of Bulgarian Rodopi.
