A kourban on the day of the celebration of St. Athanasios, the 2nd of May, is performed in honor of the saint in villages like Strimi, Rodopi and Dadia, Evros. A calf is butchered and eylogized by the village?s clerical, cooked at the church?s yard and offered to the ones attending.

Wrestlers from Turkey, Greece and Bulgaria wrestle for three days. Thousands of visitors at mountainous area of Chilia, Rodopi, at the beginnings of August (the three day fest is not organized every year in the same date).
