Many during the 19th and early 20th century wrote and published works on the general history of Thrace, as well as different aspects of its long history and rich cultural presence. Intellectuals of Thrace, not necessarily specialist academics, produced wonderful works and writings. This tradition continues today with our compatriot Christos Michalopoulos, who in the past few years has presented us with excellent examples of his interest in Thrace, through publications in the press and public lectures. Spanidi Press has recently published his book ?The Thracian Kingdom of the Odryses, Six Centuries of Thracian History (5th c. BC-1st c. AD)?. This historical monograph resulted from a wider study by the author on Thracian tribes, which he presented at a lecture last May.
The book is presented by the President of the Xanthi Bar Association Mr Kostas Gounaris, philologist and author Mr Thanasis Mousopoulos, and Democritus University of Thrace lecturer Ioannis Bakirtzis.
