On the first day of spring, on the 1st of March, a company of boys and girls holding paper swallows, wreaths, a basket full of ivy and having bells tied to their hands, welcome spring by singing the song of the swallow: The swallow came, sat and cheeped sweetly: ?March, my good March, my frightful April/even if you fire /even if you roast/you will smell like summer?.
An ancient custom revived at Komotini by the students along with the club of th Byzantine Frourion area.
