						 The ritual of Beis

A custom originating from Eastern Romilia. Beis is performed with variations at the villages of Northern Evros: Rizia, Kamara, Kiprinos, Petrota, Rigio, Vrisika, Didimoticho, Kastanies, Nea Visa, Petrota.
A custom for a fortunate year with Dionysian descent and Beis or Kiopek Beis or the king with his followers as the protagonist. It ends to a feigned seeding and plowing at the village?s square.
Kiopek Beis: a symbol of power, forerunner of Persefoni?s coming on earth, the daughter of Dimitra. For this reason, the area Ortakii is also called Dimitria. Kiopek Beis is like a deity of fertility and happiness that notifies of the spring?s arrival.
