2. They are used with a negative meaning in the negative sentences (κανείς, καμία, κανένα=noone/nobody, τίποτα=nothing). When these pronouns are used in a negative meaning, the verb form should also be in the negative form. In other words, double negatives are perfectly acceptable in Greek as opposed to English. |

-Ήρθε κανείς στο πάρτι;
(Did anyone come to the party?)
-Όχι, κανείς δεν ήρθε στο πάρτι.
(word for word translation = Νο, nobody didn’t come to the party.)
-Ξέρεις τίποτα γι’ αυτή την υπόθεση;
(Do you know anything about this case?)
-Όχι, δεν ξέρω τίποτα για αυτή την υπόθεση.
(word for word translation = Νο, I don’t know nothing about this case)
